North Central Texas College has announced the opening of Stephannie Scott’s new musical “Orochi.” It will be presented at the First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts on the NCTC Gainesville campus June 19-21 at 7:30 p.m., and on June 22 at 2:30 p.m.

“Orochi”, which is rated PG, depicts Scott’s interpretation of one of the many stories of Japan’s creation, in which there is a battle between Susano-O, a storm god and Orochi, an eight-headed dragon. “Orochi,” which Scott has worked on for more than two years, was aided by Rev. Koichi Barrish of Tsubaki Grand Shrine of America, America’s only Shinto Shrine.

Scott is a student on the NCTC Flower Mound campus.

“We were looking for a student-centric project and we felt this was an excellent opportunity to involve the student at a different level,” said Thom Talbott, NCTC Performing Arts chairman.

Scott was born in southern California and has performed around the world, including Ireland, Paris, Dubai and London. Scott is also a successful author of speculative fiction.
