The Division of Lifelong Learning, in an effort to better serve our student population has made available both advising and career services resources for Continuing Education students.
Available resources include:
- One-on-one advising: informing potential students of available training programs within Lifelong Learning and matching their values and interests to applicable training programs.
- Current demand occupations covering our three County service area (Cooke, Denton, and Montague).
- Links to local workforce centers and the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), providing students with options for funding of training programs for those that qualify.
- Online Career Resources for those seeking information on potential jobs, salary info, and job qualifications.

Occupational Outlook Handbook
The Occupational Outlook Handbook is a nationally recognized source of career information, designed to provide valuable assistance to individuals making decisions about their future work lives. The website provides career overviews, working conditions, required training and education, expected job prospects, potential earnings, and what workers do on the job, in addition to related occupation information on specific careers.
O*Net Resource Center
O*net provides a Computerized Interest Profiler
that can be self-administered and self-interpreted
to measure six types of occupational interests. It
is composed of 180 items describing work activities that represent a wide variety of occupations as well as a broad range of training levels.
SIGI3
SIGI offers a collection of tools - assessments, databases, and Internet links - that you can use to answer your questions about majors, occupations, and careers.
The best way to go through SIGI is to have a goal, such as selecting a major or learning about occupations that interest you. Then, use SIGI's tools to find answers.
The Keirsey Temperament Sorter®-II (KTS®-II)
The Keirsey Temperament Sorter is the most widely used personality instrument in the world. It is a powerful 70 question personality instrument that helps individuals discover their personality type and how those interests can relate to possible career choices.
OSCAR
OSCAR is a product of the Texas Workforce Commission/Career Development Resources (TWC/CDR)
and was designed to assist dislocated workers in transitioning to new careers. A major emphasis of the program is to spotlight the O*net database resource, but it was designed with a friendly look and feel to avoid intimidating any person who was not familiar with computers and menus, toolbars, etc.

Hint: To view local listings for occupations such as healthcare support functions select the following options from the Work in Texas website:
- Click the "Looking for a Job" link.
- Click the "Browse Jobs" tab at the top.
- Click the "By Occupation and Location" tab on the left.
- Enter the "Job Title" (i.e. Pharmacy Tech) and choose the region (i.e. Dallas/Ft. Worth or Sherman/Denison).
- Click the "Search" button for job listings which may include salary info and detailed job requirements.
