SIOP-Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol

The Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Model was developed to facilitate high quality instruction for English language learners in content area teaching. It is used in hundreds of schools across the U.S. as well as in several other countries. This two day class is a thorough introduction to the SIOP Model for those wanting to learn the Model and its effectiveness in assisting educators who serve English Language Learners. Participants will understand the research-based framework of the sheltered instruction approach for English Language Learners, become familiar with the eight components of effective sheltered instruction lessons, and practice observing and evaluating sheltered instruction lessons. Day One:  Overview and Components 1-4.  Day Two:  Components 5-8.  (12 hrs.) Text included in cost of class.
