Owners Don Hutcherson and Dean Spence

Don Hutcherson saw potential in the powder coating industry and after discussing his ideas with Dean Spence they decided to pool their talents and take serious steps towards opening this type of business.   They came to the NCTC/SBDC in November 2002 for assistance developing their ideas.

SBDC Business Consultant and Director, Cathy Keeler, helped Don and Dean research and prepare a feasibility study, marketing plan, and business plan. In addition special assistance was provided through the NTSBDC Technology and Risk Management Specialty centers in areas of industry classifications and environmental issues.

After presenting their completed business plan to their banker they   received a conventional bank loan, enabling them to purchase equipment, supplies, lease a building and begin the business.   Don and Dean opened Enhanced Powder Coating, LLC in March 2003.   Business is steadily increasing; in addition to the two owners they now have a full time and a part time employee.
