The Esthetics program, or non-medical care of the skin, provides the knowledge and skills a person will need in the health and beauty industry. The classes include basic skin care,and facials to advanced facial techniques such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, waxing and other spa related treatments.
Classes are held from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Thursday and Fridays 8am to 3pmin a modern learning enviroment with all the latest equipment. During various times of study, we offer field trips to salons, esthetic shows, and other educational events.
A total of 28 credit hours and 750 clock hours are required to complete this program. This takes approximately 2 semesters and the student is prepared to take the licensing exam required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration to become a Esthetician. A high school diploma or the equivalent is required to enroll in any of the cosmetology programs.
A broad range of career opportunities exist for the professional esthetician from employment in spas, salons and/or health and wellness centers, to product representatives or skin consultants working in conjunction with dermatologists. The entrepreneurial esthetician is often self-employed or employed on a consulting basis in a wide range of settings.
