BIOL1408 - General Biology

A survey of key concepts including biological chemistry, cell structure and function, genetics, evolution and ecology. An overview of the plants and animals is included with special emphasis given to the morphology and physiology of man. This course includes the dissecting of fetal pigs. For non-science majors.

Requirements:

Reliable access to the Internet is required for this class, preferably via broadband/DSL. Access is via the NCTC web site or www.angel.nctc.edu.

All exams are on Wednesdays from 3-6pm or 8-11pm. 

Quizzes for lecture notes and labs are due Monday nights at midnight

  • This is not a self-paced course. You must complete assignments week by week, as scheduled. 

  • You are responsible for your own learning in this class. Success in online classes depends largely on your degree of self-motivation and determination to keep up with the class schedule. 

  • I make an announcement each week on what is due that week

  • It is your responsibility to stay informed of class assignments week by week, including any changes to the original schedule or assignments, as announced.  Be sure your Announcements box on our course page in ANGEL is always set to show Present Announcements

  • A complete syllabus and course calendar will be posted the week before classes begin. I am always glad to answer questions about the course requirements, but please be sure to read the entire syllabus first. You are responsible for knowing and following all guidelines and directions found therein.
