ECON2301 - Principals of Macroeconomics

Karla Lynch
Instructor

As an introduction to the principles of macroeconomics, this course explores Classical, Keynesian and other economic models. Emphasis is given to national income, money and banking, monetary and fiscal policy, economic fluctuations, and economic growth. Other topics include, but are not limited to, introductory international trade and finance, employment, comparative economic systems and economic decision-making.

What can students expect with an online Principles of Economics course?

  • Weekly assignment, quizzes, and/or discussion boards typically due on Saturday by 11 PM.
    • Assignments may be done up to 3 times with your highest grade recorded.
    • Quizzes are timed, intended to prepare you for your 2 major exams which are, also, timed.  At least 1 written assignment per semester will be expected and will count as a quiz grade.
    • Discussion Boards count as class participation…a gift you should accept

  • Exams
    • 2 major exams, each worth 30% of your overall grade that will be taken online on one of two different nights from 7 – 9 PM.
    • Students are expected to have their course resources prepared to use during quizzes and exams.  Exam difficulty will reflect that expectation.
    • There will be 60 questions:  both T/F and multiple choice questions will be on the exams.
  • Students will be responsible for reading, outlining, and studying assigned chapters
    • I do not post lectures, or my personal notes.  It is your responsibility as an online student to follow the instructor guide and taking in the information presented in the text.  Since you have the privilege of having your resources during exams and quizzes, I expect you to be thoroughly knowledgeable about those resources and the subject matter.
    • I am available via phone and through appointments.  There is, also, an online chat tool within Angel that we can ‘meet’ through if calling, emailing, or meeting in person is not an option.  It is never my intention for you to struggle with this entirely on your own!  But it will be your responsibility to contact me if you are having any issues, or need further explanation regarding economic concepts.
