TICKETS ON SALES FOR "DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE"

NOTE: See photo at conclusion of article.

GAINESVILLE, TEXAS – Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde will stalk the main stage of the First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts at North Central Texas College beginning October 29, and tickets are now on sale.

The NCTC Drama Department will present four performances of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” on October 29, 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m., as well as a special midnight performance on Halloween.

“This is the fourth time that NCTC Drama has presented a midnight show for Halloween,” said Thom Talbott, drama program head. “We always have a lively and enthusiastic audience, and everybody has a great time. We hope everybody who’s into the Halloween thing will join our other playgoers for this year’s midnight show.“

And what an appropriate show for Halloween it is, Talbott added, especially if you subscribe to the idea that “there is a monster in all of us…”.

According to guest direct Craig Hertel, the plot can be summed up fairly simply: “There is something inside him that is just dying to get out.”

“We’re bringing Robert Louis Stevenson's timeless tale of inner demons and evil unchecked to the stage in a mesmerizing and theatrically intense new spin by playwright Jeffrey Hatcher,” Hertel said.

Against the backdrop of Victorian London, he added, the respected Dr. Jekyll begins acting alarmingly erratic toward his friends. At the same time, a brutal figure haunts the city’s streets committing murder and assault.

“Indulge your dark side with this riveting and fiendishly clever thriller,” said Hertel, who has directed a number of 1A UIL One-Act Plays for Lindsay High School that have won the state competition, including his 2009 entry of “The Rimers of Eldritch.”

The production design is by NCTC Drama technical director Dan Doss.

The ensemble cast of 10 actors take on dozens of roles and include Dakota Butler of Lindsay, Makenzie Carlton of Denton, Carolyn Dickerson of Lindsay, Ryan Dickerson of Gainesville, Missy Embrey of Gainesville, Ashley Page of Justin, Jamie Rauschuber of Valley View, Danny Winters of Gainesville, KyLeigh Zimmerer of Lindsay and Stephanie Zwinggi of Lindsay.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for youth (high school or younger) and free for NCTC students with an ID. Call 940-668-3355 for reservations. Group rates are available for groups over 10.

The box office is open Monday–Friday from 1 to 6:00 p.m. at the First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts. For more information about the drama program at NCTC, visit the web at www.nctc.edu/drama or become a fan of NCTC Drama on Facebook.
