The digital world is growing at a rapid speed, and learning the ins and outs of computer systems is an incredible career path to follow. Networking is the engineering of the communication between computer systems or devices. Nearly every company, from small to large, utilizes a computer network system to get their work done.
NCTC’s Networking Technology Program is an exciting opportunity for those interested in computer networking. The curriculum provides impactful learning experiences and hands-on training in the fundamentals of CISCO, Network Security, Linux, and the Microsoft Windows Server platform. Our labs offer all required equipment as outlined in the CISCO Networking Academy®, as well as the most current versions of Windows Server. So no matter where you end up post-completion, you will have a deep understanding of multiple systems.
Networking Technology Degrees & Certificates
The Networking Technology Program is an exciting opportunity for those who find interest in computer networking. The curriculum provides learning opportunities and hands-on training in the fundamentals of CISCO, Network Security, Linux, and the Microsoft Windows Server platform.
Our labs offer all required equipment as outlined in the CISCO Networking Academy® as well as the most current versions of Windows Server.
Upon completion of the program, students may find employment with high-tech firms, school districts, Internet provider companies, government agencies, and other businesses that employ skilled networking technicians. The Networking curriculum has been developed with the assistance and advice of the Business & Industry Leadership Team (BILT) which is composed of service area industry professionals.
CISCO Basic Certificate
The Cisco Basic Level I Workforce Certificate is designed for students interested in completing only the courses required for certification. The program is designed to take two semesters, or 32 weeks, to complete.
CISCO Systems Certificate
The curriculum provides similar classes to the degree program; however, there are no academic classes. The certificate can be completed through a mix of face-to-face and online classes. The program is designed to take one year, or 32 weeks, to complete.
Computer Network Systems AAS
This degree can be completed through a mix of face-to-face, hybrid and online classes. Several of the courses are offered in an 8-week term, rather than a 16-week term. The program is designed to take two years to complete and consists of the following suggested pathway or course of study.
Career Outlook
Network Administrator: Oversee and upkeep computer networking systems including hardware, software, and all configurations in between.
Network Installer: Assist in the implementation and onboarding of a new computer network. From testing circuits, to fielding inquiries, to problem-shooting malfunctions, Installers require an in-depth understanding of the specific network they are facilitating.
Network Architect or Engineer: Develop and suggest solutions for best practices and protection of the network in question. From firewall implementation, to automated security probes, to audits and updates of systems, to pinpointing weaknesses in the systems, and everything in between.
