Taking a Test for a Class

Please contact your professor for Testing Center scheduling policies prior to registration.

NCTC Testing Services offers classroom exam scheduling through the NCTC RegisterBlast portal.

Bowie and Graham students will schedule via direct email at bowietesting@nctc.edu or grahamtesting@nctc.edu.

Testing Rules for Online Classes

Testing in online math classes and some other online courses at NCTC must be done in person and proctored.  Any traditional, written test given as a major assignment must be proctored and taken in-person at an NCTC testing center, at test locations provided by the math division, or at another authorized testing site.

Generally, students will be given a time frame in which they can take their test. The NCTC testing centers can be used during regular business hours. The NCTC math department typically provides testing opportunities for students during some evenings and on the weekend if campuses are open.

Please refer to the course syllabus or instructions within your Canvas course for more detailed information.

*Note: Some non-STEM math classes like Math1332 Contemporary Math may have alternative assessments such as projects or presentations that may be completed online, but all typical written tests must be taken on-site in a proctored environment.

FAQ

  • You are welcome to arrange to take your test at another authorized location. Often other colleges and universities have testing centers where you can take your NCTC test for a fee. Sometimes libraries or embassies offer proctored testing as well. Students in the military may be able to arrange testing with a commanding officer. In short, although testing at an NCTC campus is preferred, there are other options for students. Please contact your instructor if you are needing to use one of these options. The course instructor has the final say on what constitutes an authorized testing site.

  • We are usually able to coordinate testing with high schools so that high school students may take their NCTC tests on their high school campus. Please contact your instructor for more information on how to arrange this.

  • If you are taking the test at an NCTC testing center, you should contact the testing center in order to change your appointment time. Please do not sign up for multiple test times because seating is limited and a missed appointment may prevent another student from being able to test at the time they need.

If you are testing with an NCTC math division proctor, please contact your instructor and they will coordinate that for you.
