True 3 Grant at NCTC
Based on input from employers, workforce agencies, and community-based groups, NCTC has developed new and enhanced short term technical training programs for Bookkeeping and Data Analytics.
These two programs are viable skills needed in a vast range of industries growing in Texas. With the enhancements of these programs, NCTC will have the quality programs to best serve community members seeking new skills and better job opportunities, and meet the workforce needs of employers in our service area. Both new hire and incumbent worker bookkeeping/accounting clerks and data management analyst positions are needed in a variety of growing industries in North Texas including finance, insurance, healthcare, retail, logistics, transportation, telecommunications, and spanning the private and public, nonprofit and for-profit sectors.
This newly developed training began in Spring 2024 where NCTC introduced the concurrently-enrolled noncredit and credit Bookkeeping Occupational Skills Award (OSA). This is a part of the Accounting Program Associate of Applied Science pathway. The Bookkeeping OSA can be completed in one semester and is stackable to a credit Basic Level 1 Bookkeeping Certificate. Both can be completed in one semester.
All of the Data Analytics courses were newly developed for delivery in Spring 2024 as 8-week online courses, as Data Analytics is a new program offering at NCTC. The Data Analytics OSA was developed in December and early January for student enrollment by mid-January. This OSAis stackable to the new Data Analytics Level 1 Certificate that will be offered and can be completed during Fall 2024 when all curriculum is fully developed. Students have already pre-enrolled for the courses in this credential. Both noncredit and credit students were co-enrolled in the Data Analytics OSA this Spring 2024 semester and that student enrollment practice will be offered for the Fall 2024 program, too. Additionally, a noncredit, self-paced Data Analytics OSA will begin in June 2024 for completion by early December 2024.
Eligible students may apply for tuition and cost of education for up to $2,500 per semester as they participate in the training toward earning high-valued credentials.
