NCTC’s Darrell Smith Participates in Semiconductor Panel Discussion

On December 7th, 2022, a Semiconductor Workforce Development Workshop was held to discuss the rising need of technicians in the state of Texas. This event allowed for the discussion of apprenticeship programs through North Central Texas College, Dallas College, and Grayson College. 

During this panel, five companies including Texas Instruments expressed the need of 5,000 employees in the next three years. Within the employee population, a large percentage needs to be certified technicians.

Darrell Smith, NCTC Division Chair of Industrial and Engineering Technology and member of the UT Dallas Semiconductor Consortium, represented NCTC on the panel to discuss what NCTC is doing to meet the needs of the growing semiconductor industry in North Texas including the Industrial Technology programs NCTC has to offer that can be utilized to create a certified and ready workforce.
